On Sunday 23.01.2022, Gajiganna Youth Development Initiative (GYDI) presented school materials to four orphans of Gajiganna who obtained admission at different Unity Colleges under the Students Exchange Program. The materials are worth over one hundred thousand naira and along with transportation and pocket money of twenty thousand naira cash to each beneficiary.

The beneficiaries are:

1. Alhaji Modu Kale - Government Unity College Nguru, Yobe State.

2. Kellu Umara - Government Girls Unity College Damaturu, Yobe State.

3. Bukar Kaganami - Government Science Secondary School Gombe, Gombe State.

4. Bintu Bukar - Government Girls College Kachako, Kano State.

In his welcome address, the Executive Director of the Initiative Abubakar Abatcha vividly highlights the aims and objectives of the Initiative and the purpose of the occasion to the audience. He added that such humanitarian service rendered is one of the cardinal objectives of the Initiative. He also advises parents/guidance of the beneficiaries to encourage their children to concentrate more on their studies. "Because education is the bedrock of sustainable any development".

The materials presented to each orphan are:

1. Lockable box with padlocks.

2. Traveling bag.

3. Blanket.

4. Bedsheet with pillowcase.

5. Mosquito net.

6. Food flask, spoon and drinking cup.

7. Socks, canvas and sandals shoes.

8. Bathing and laundry soaps.

9. Torchlight with batteries.

10. Mathematical sets.

11. Writing materials.

12. Bucket.

13. Sponge and baseline

14. Toothpaste and brush.

15 cotton butt and nail cutter.

16. Fees of medical fitness and local government indigene letter.

17. Payment of eight passport photographs and photocopies of documents.

18. Twenty thousand naira (20,000) cash for transportation and pocket money.

The teachers also provided fifteen (15) exercise books to each student.

In his part, the Council of the Ward in the person of Hon. Kaka Sale Ali appreciated the efforts of GYDI for their untiring developmental activities across the community and called on the beneficiaries to study hard and be the good ambassador of Gajiganna in their respective schools. He also donates some token of cash to each orphan.

The occasion took place in Gajiganna Mega Primary School, Gajiganna Town. And was graced by many dignitaries of the area which includes:

The Councilor, village heads, ward heads, security representatives, business moguls, civil servants, teachers, and parents among others.

On their keynote address, the village heads, advisers, principal, and the headmaster also urged the students to concentrate more on their studies and encouraged the parents/guidance to give their children the necessary support to the best of their ability. They stated that education is a long-term investment that has a lot of challenges and controversies.

On their thank you message, the parents/guidance of the beneficiaries expressed their profound appreciation for the gesture and prayed for the Initiative for Allah's guidance and protection and may her vision and mission come to reality.

Finally, the able Executive Director, Abubakar Abatcha appreciates the efforts of the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum Mni FNSE and Executive Chairman Magumeri LGA, Engr. Dr. Ali Lawan Yaumi MNSE for their unflinching support especially in the education sector. He appeals to state government to complete the renovation of GGSS Gajiganna on time so as to daughters further their education. He also give a vote of thanks for all and sundry for honoring the initiative's invitation despite their odd schedules and prayed for safe return to their various destination.
